1. How did you approach the class this week vs. last week?....did you change anything? If I can think back to that... First week of school wasnt really a challenge for me but after that when I started to recieve assignments to take home thats when I started to Fall Back in Class.
2. What are the benefits of using technology to learn vs. the standard classroom that we grew up to? Using technology helps most of the time, but sometimes its abused for example: using a calculator to do " 5 x 5 " not cool at all i have seen it done with my own eyes but the standard class room isnt bad or anything its just outdated.
3. Think about the program Wolfram that I linked over to you OR think about your graphing calculators. What are advantages and disadvantages to having the answers provided for you all of the time in mathematics without having to figure them out? How could you use the answers to extend your understanding of mathematics further? Wolfram, I dont beleive it should be used to do all math but some math is fine or even trying to find out info but using it todo do a whole worksheet is not really helping you out at all. I truly dont believe it would further make you understand mathematics at all because your not doing any of the work.
4. What is your favorite part about this class thus far and WHY?
If I recall the fact that we could use our Cell phones in class if we had a passing grade..but that didnt last too long for me.\:
5. Imagine you are a teacher. If you were teaching the class, what changes would you make to the learning environment? What would you do to have your students get excited about math? wow. I mean i havent had a teacher that has gotten me excited for math so i dont know how i would even manage to do that maybe by having incentives that were really worth doing the work for.
6. What are the 5 steps to solving equations?
-1. Combine like terms.
-2. Isolate the terms that contain the variable you wish to solve for.
-3. Isolate the variable you wish to solve for.
-4.Substitute your answer into the original equation and check that it works.
7. Why do mathematicians show their steps when solving formulas? Mathematicians show their steps so they can go back to it, incase they messed up on the problem and see where they made the mistake.
8. What are some common mistakes that you make when solving equations/formulas?
Some common mistakes I make are that i forget to add negative signs to numbers when I move them or not do negative number math correctly.
9. How do you find the correct answer of an equation by looking at a graph? if you plug the points in to the equation and if you solved it correctly it should be what you answer was suppouse to equal.
